  1. WTF… when did you put this on the blog? Just noticed it today. Very fun to see all your gear.

  2. Nice, with DSLR prices dropping ever considered upgrading to something like a 5D? Full frame is nice.

  3. I don’t think I could give up the speed of the 40D. It is pretty spiffy for a pre-sumer. Can you point me to a sample of images that show the difference?

  4. I found you via Ivoryhut. I am another Canon girl…and just YESTERDAY brought home my first DSLR – a Canon Rebel XSi. Just the kit lens so far 18-55 as you got with your Rebel. I have on “order” the 17-40L f/4 wide angle zoom as I love taking landscape. Would have liked the 16-35 f/2.8 but budget… I also ordered the 50mm f/1.8 – not the L… and all hoods. I “think” I’m planning on sticking to L lenses with the idea that they will go on my next step up. But mainly, I am just loving getting out and seeing what I can see and bringing “home” as much of it as I can.

    Happy shooting!

  5. WOOHOO! Canon 50D baby!! Brand new with an IS 18-200!! Once I learn to use it, I’m gonna be HELL ON WHEELS.

  6. I am a Canon girl now too! Cheap, entry level, Canon Rebel XS, but Canon DSLR nonetheless and loving it! πŸ™‚

  7. Oh, I meant to add to that, if you have a chance, I’d love to hear your thoughts about what lenses might be best to eventually acquire on a limited budget. I have the 18-55mm kit lens, plus the 55-250mm.

  8. Congrats Karma. There is a very fast 50mm that is under $100

It’s a fixed focal length. So it will challenge you to zoom with your feet and make you really think about composition. It lets in beautiful light. It’s my party and dinner out lens.

I then bought macro extension tubes…thank you KD for the recco.

I would also suggest renting a lens for a week or so to really get a feel. lensrentals.com is a great place that I have used.

    Hope that helps.
